Quantity Recommendations
Captain Dave recommends a minimum of four pails of grain and one pail of beans per person per year. A family of four should order at least 14 pails of wheat and 4 pails of beans or a one-year period.

Grains and legumes are naturally occurring products harvested on farms. While every effort is made to clean and screen the grains and beans prior to packaging, a small amount of dirt, debris or other naturally occurring substances may sometime be found mixed in with the product. When noticed, these foreign substances should be removed prior to use.

Proper storage of these products is essential to their long term viability. They should be store in a cool, dry, dark, pest-free location. To prolong shelf life, avoid storing in garages, attics and other areas that may be subject to high heat. Because storage conditions are out of our control, Captain Dave makes no specific claim on the actual storage life of these products.

While grains and legumes are an important part of a long term storage program, to take full advantage of them, you should store additional products, including but not limited to a grain mill, yeast, baking powder and baking soda, honey and/or sugar, bread pans and cookie sheets, pots and pans, measuring cups and measuring spoons, a rolling pin, and recipes.
